First, even though, thankfully the virus spares most kids, the incidence of harm in kids is not zero. Some kids, even now, are indeed susceptible to harm.

Second, the vaccine prevents infection by the most common current strains. That means the virus cannot take hold in the vast majority of vaccinated persons at the moment and this also means that it, therefore, cannot mutate in them because it is not replicating in them.

Third, a person who is protected from infection is also highly likely to be non-infectious.

I do agree that the handwaving from the CDC is stupid and confusing. But that does not override the vaccines efficacy at preventing infection - and this both mutation and transmission.

As far as I can see the only persons who should not get indiscriminately vaccinated are the recently infected and the already naturally immune.
